How was your weekend??? I really enjoyed seeing all of you so dressed up and proper at prom on Saturday! You all looked great and it looked like you were having a fantastic time! And I heard that the mechanical bull at after-prom was quite the hit!! What a fun way to end the school year!!
In conceptual physics, we started a week-long discussion of NASA and rocketry. We started off the week by watching a 2001 FOX broadcast of the show “Conspiracy Theory: Did we Really Land on the Moon?” This show gave a lot of evidence against the moon landing and used physics to state the case. Tomorrow, we will look at NASA’s side of the story and then I will have you form your own opinion using purely scientific evidence.
In biology, we discussed the largest organ in your body—your skin! We looked at the three layers of skin; the epidermis, dermis, and hyperdermis. That’s a lot of dermis!! We discussed how our skin senses everything around us and is constantly giving us feedback on our environment. We also watched some BrainPop’s on unpleasant things that can happen to our skin; acne, bruises, and burns.
And in physics, we started discussing parallel circuits. Using Ohm’s Law, we found that the current in parallel circuits is not the same everywhere. It changes based on the resistor it is going through. We also found that the potential difference across all of the resistors is the same as the potential difference across the power source. And finally, to find the equivalent resistance, you have to add up the reciprocal resistances of each resistor. We went over a few examples in class, and then I had you do the section review on page 745 of your book.
Have a wonderful start to your week!!
