Mrs. Plas' Virtual Classroom

Welcome to your on-line science classroom. I will use this website to inform you of what we did in class and also to remind you of important upcoming dates! I am so glad you are in my class this semester, and I look forward to discovering science with you! My goal is simple; to help you achieve yours!

Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.

Lots of great news for the Dukes of York High School!!  The boys track team became district champions at the district track meet yesterday!  The team performed amazingly well and are now looking forward to the State Track Meet next Friday and Saturday in Omaha!!  Also, the halls of YHS were a little bare today as most of the student body is in Omaha cheering on the soccer team.  Hopefully we can pull out a win today and keep moving towards the championship game on Tuesday!

In conceptual physics, you continued working on your board game.  Your games are really starting to come together!!  Most of you have all of the rules and questions written, and now your focus is going towards the design of the actual playing board.  Lots of colors and pictures are coming out!!  You have two more days, Monday and Tuesday, to work on this project!!!

In biology, we finished up our review on invertebrates by watching the Blue Planet DVD on animals found in the deep oceans.  I had you write down all the animals that were discussed in the DVD and then you had to classify them into the different invertebrate phyla.

And in physics, you continued working on your review packet.  At the beginning of class, we went over the equation sheet that you will be using on your semester exam and I had you add a few equations.  The semester exam will be 40 questions and is worth 80 points.  Be prepared to spend about 45 minutes to an hour on the exam; we covered a lot of material!!

Have a fun weekend!!!  It’s your last of the school year!!
